Brewing Instructions
The preparation of tea is as important as the ingredients themselves. While there are different methods to brew tea, our preference is to make it just as our mother and grandmother taught us.
Instructions to prepare the perfect cup of chai
Preferred/Traditional Method
In a small saucepan, add approximately 1.5 serving cup of water and your chai blend of choice. Amount of tea will vary depending on preference, but we generally recommend 1 scoop. Boil on high heat for several minutes, until the water has reduced by half. We boil for about 10 minutes.
For non-dairy milk
Once the mixture has boiled and water has reduced, turn off the heat and add 1/4 cup of your favourite non-dairy milk to the saucepan. Allow tea to sit for 1 minute and then strain into your favourite cup.
For buffalo/cow’s milk
Once the mixture has boiled and water has reduced, add 1/4 cup of milk and keep the burner on until the milk is warmed all the way through and begins to rise. Be sure to remove the saucepan from heat before the tea boils over.
Once removed from heat, strain the tea into your favorite tea cup.
Optional: sweetened with honey, maple syrup, or other sweetener of choice to taste. While we encourage limited use of added sugars, sweeteners do allow the flavours of each chai blend to really meld and enhance.
Alternative Method
Add 1tsp chai blend in a tea infuser to 1 cup of boiling water. Steep for 2-3 minutes, based on preference. Remove infuser, drink as is, or add splash of milk and/or sweetener of choice.
Neend tea blend
Combine 1tsp - 1tbsp of the Neend Blend and 1 cup of milk of choice in a saucepan. Warm through and strain tea.
